Who Uses Semantic Web Technology

IT industry is booming, Various software’s are being developed. New Technologies are invented every day. In daily life we need some data to be searched for that we used different search engines. So we decided to work in the area of Web technology.

Due to harassment caused by search engines while searching the data web people were motivated towards the idea of working on a project which would search the related meaningful  data more efficiently.
computer cannot accomplish the same tasks without human direction because web pages are designed to be read by people, not machines. The semantic web is a vision of information that is understandable by computers, so that they can perform more of the tedious work involved in finding, sharing, and combining information on the web.

Idea behind Semantic web
The idea was to turn the Web into a single repository of information instead of a vast collection of Websites, links and pages. Search engines are still quite sensitive to queries

Two semantically equivalent queries usually will get different results

It has taken years to put the pieces together that comprise the Semantic Web, including the standardization of RDF, the W3C release of the Web Ontology Language (OWL),and standardization on SPARQL, which adds querying capabilities to RDF.
Semantic Web technologies are popular in areas such as research and life sciences where it can help researchers by aggregating data on different medicines and illnesses that have multiple names in different parts of the world. On the Web, Twine is offering a knowledge networking application has been built with Semantic Web technologies. The Joost online television service also uses Semantic technology on the backend. Here Semantic technology is used to help Joost users understand the relationships between pieces of content, enabling them to find the types of content they want most. oracle offers a Semantic Web view of its Oracle Technology Network, called the OTN Semantic Web to name a few of those companies who are implementing Semantic Web technologies.

The proposed implementation of the Semantic Search Engine will include following features-
  •        Web expanded into a Semantic Web:

  •      Search engines in future should ‘understand’ meaning of Web pages far enough to enable ‘sensible’ queries

  •     At the moment semantic search engines only exist for specialized    areas of knowledge

  •      Shall use conceptual representation of Web pages

  •        Help people as direct users

Thus our idea of SEMANTIC SEARCH ENGINE decreases the searching effort, which can help people to gain maximum efficiency and get meaningful result.

1 comment:

  1. is the semantic web technology based on web 3.0 or its available now on web 2.0
Is their any search engine related to meaningful search not on keyword based search.
